The Atlantic Mackerel (Scomber scombrus) is typically an open ocean fish with voracious feeding habits. It is found on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. They travel in schools that often contain thousands of fish. Mackerel may grow as large as 3,4 kilograms ( 7 1/2 pounds) and have a maximum age of about 20 years. Atlantic mackerel is extremely high in vitamin B12 and also very high in omega 3, containing nearly twice as much per unit weight as does salmon. It is very sought after food, either smoked, cooked or as sashimi. The hot smoked mackerel fillets are spiced with pepper. Two fillets per pack of 170 gr.
